So this is somewhat of lazy day, definitely a chill day and I love this article I found on TheSelvedgeYard.wordpress.com. So I reposted. Some of the articles in playboy are not bad, self-proclaimed as The Robe and Pipe theory. Other stuff coming randomly as I sit and stare out the shop window.
Rain
It just kinda reminds me of flash dance. Probably because my roommates forced me to watch the entire movie last night. I live with two girls. Otherwise, the likelihood of me watching this movie would be as nonexistant as my assumption that one day i’ll grow to be over 6ft. I thought it was good when it was over. Just like rainy days
Okay-we love rainy days. I should be slapped for comparing it to Flash Dance. (I was forced to write this)
People, Places and Things-Project Trade Show
We were ever so thankful to be apart of the Project Trade Show and thank everyone who came out to support us including all the new and great people we met. We received some awesome feed back, which lets us know we must be doing something right. So once again Thank you. For those of you who were not there, it was three days filled with amazing brands, people, and conversations. We were able to capture a few pictures of some of the great things coming your way for spring summer 2012.

spring/summer 2012…
Teddy Boy is designed and produced on the lower east side. Our woven shirts are all L/S and made from lightweight cotton and we didn’t stray too far from the classic button-up. Our one twist is an extended collar with a hidden top button. This gives the shirt a clean finish. Our henley tee’s are a combination of jersey and a woven bibbing. This makes the classic henley a little dressier. This we made in both L/S and S/S. Come visit us at our flagship store or at Project NY July 17-19 to see the full collection.
just a thing…
This is a wax cotton coat with leather details detailing our attempt to be master craftsmen. Matched with our ability to design and create a piece that fits like a glove and ages like a favorite pair of leather boots, we aim to provide you with subtle arrangements of art that will remain in your closet for years to come. The potential of this coat reaches to far heights in your attempt to become the man you’re soon to be. Help us help you. That’s what we’re here for. Cool shit.
No title
In our attempt to keep things fresh and new, we regularly update our fabric library. Here are a few of the fabrics and prints that we’ve selected for the Spring 12′ collection. Nothing is set in stone and we’re still playing around like a 6 year old in a tub full of toys-we like options. The good thing about having your own store and brand with the freedom to create, is that we do what we want when we want. Often times the pieces that are inspired by random events are limited (2-3). But, it gives us the opportunity to make something that we think is cool and looks good. The hard part is convincing you that what we think is cool, is cool. Nonetheless, you can rest assured that we put an enormous amount of time and energy into selecting fabrics and putting a piece together. We care because we know you do. And we want you to look goooood. Why else would we put up with the long hours, disagreements, headaches and stress of bringing you the finest garment for you and your dollar. We take nothing for granted and are always graciously appreciative when we have satisfied your need. It’s always the small things that catch your eye-a diamond in the rough, but not. Good diamonds are hard to find. We’re like the sun. Bask in us
tweet you twit
Sooo…we’re on twitter. We didnt’ get it, didn’t understand it, but after many conversations with close friends and random twits, we thought it would be a good tool to use for self-promotion and other things. I don’t think we’ve fully grasped the self promotion thing yet, so until we learn, tune in to see our random thoughts, quotes, gripes, likes and dislikes. FOLLOW US DAMMIT! and we’ll do the same. Yes, we do love our Mom’s. Cheers
2 birds…one stone
One of our better pieces. Sitting here. Waiting to be picked up and bought so you can strut your stuff like the New York city Socialite that you are. Hand-made, clean, cut perfectly to fit your ego and your figure. 100% linen so you can be cool while being hot. Falling in love….please go face first.
If you’re sad that snowboarding season is over, don’t worry! Portland, Oregan is here to help
Before Television there was this: a bunch of guys in the middle of somewhere making shit happen, having fun, and doing cool stuff because it was dangerously awesome. And all of this was done, if not created, in thrilling, extreme-sport-driven Portland, Oregon. Honestly, I cant remember where Oregon is but I’m sure its located near water. But who needs water when you’re surrounded by good, old-fashioned, man-made, dirt. I like how the article says you can break your neck before recommending the best place to enjoy this sport (hence the absence of quotations). So as we honor Independence day, Colombus day, National Do-Nothing Day be sure to celebrate these gents and go Terraplane somewhere! Anywhere! If possible on a flat surface with a cell phone near-by so we can all laugh at you, I mean with you, on youtube.
through the looking glass
We love to help women feel good about themselves. It’s our business to do so. We create pieces that exude the elegance of a modern day princess that matches the perennial appeal of our vision: to create clothes that are independent of imitation while producing an adaptation of today’s trends by adhering to traditional style. Fashion comes and goes. Style last forever.
crime and punishment
It’s easy to look at the negative aspect of things that happen in our everyday life, too many to say how many, but, you have 365 days to think about them. Instead of dwelling on why, how, or what-you have to figure that something good may have come out of it. So, so not to lead anyone in the wrong direction we’ve conveniently changed the title of this post from “inspiration” to “crime and punishment.” Truth is, if/when you break the law-and get caught- you will go to jail, you might be drunk, and you’ll take a mugshot. But while the chips seem low there has to be some good that comes out of it. Right? In the attempt to offer truth to this statement we’ve uploaded some of our favorite mug shots of famous people to show you that we aren’t so different after all. Rich people party, get drunk and go to jail just like we do. So if you have been to jail due to a drunken stupor and happen to be caught off-guard by the woman screaming at you to look into the camera while you make the awkward im-about-to-sneeze face- remember that we’ve all been through it and we’re not judging you. The least you can hope is that you make a cool mugshot picture to put on facebook and show to your friends. For those of you who haven’t been “through it,” you should probably move to rhode island, buy a mini-van, get your tattoos removed (if you even have any) and learn to snorkel without a breathing apparatus. But like I said, we don’t judge.

I have no idea what you’re thinking because we don’t even know what we’re thinking. We know this is a cool picture. We know we like it. We think you do too. But we never asked. And we’re not. This is one of those lingering thoughts that happens to happen while listening to pink floyd, pun intended.

Miles Davis performing at Birdland in New York, 1958. Photo by Dennis Stock
Miles Davis is regarded as one of the most innovative, influential and respected figures in the history of music. He has been described as “one of the great innovators in jazz”. The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll noted “Miles Davis played a crucial and inevitably controversial role in every major development in jazz since the mid-’40s, and no other jazz musician has had so profound an effect on rock. Miles Davis was the most widely recognized jazz musician of his era, an outspoken social critic and an arbiter of style—in attitude and fashion—as well as music”.[49] His album Kind of Blue is the best-selling album in the history of jazz music and was praised by the United States House of Representatives to “pass a symbolic resolution honoring the masterpiece and reaffirming jazz as a national treasure.”
